LPC 500 Liquid Particle Counter

The LPC 500™ Liquid Particle Counter is a single particle optical sizing (SPOS) system designed to count and size particles individually with high resolution. When used for in-service oil samples, only 4 mL of 10x diluted samples are typically needed, offering reproducible results between high- and low-viscosity samples, while also minimizing washout requirements and solvent waste. The LPC 500:

  • Integrates seamlessly with ICP-OES for elemental analysis
  • Provides sample-to-sample analysis time of ~45 seconds
  • Uses less than 1 mL of lubricant sample per analysis
  • Boasts the smallest footprint of any standalone automated particle counter

Overview

The LPC 500 Liquid Particle Counter consists of three components – an optical sensor, a multi-channel pulse analyzer (MPA), and a software controller – and is available in two configurations:

  • A patent-pending option coupling the LPC 500 counter with the Avio® 550 Max ICP-OES Oils system, enabling the same diluted sample to be analyzed for both wear metals and particle counting/sizing, so two analyses in a single run. Plus, all features and data outputs for the LPC 500 system have been integrated into Syngistix for ICP software, leveraging one software platform for both analyses.
  • A standalone LPC 500 for particle counting only which offers sample-to-sample analysis times of 95 seconds, with the same reduced sample size and sample preparation. This option is controlled by a separate software package that allows extensive customizability of the particle counting parameters.
