fosetyl-ai-and-metabolites-in-fruit-matrices-512.jpg

Introduction

In food safety and pesticide residue testing, accurate measurement of fosetyl-Al and its metabolite phosphonic acid is essential to ensure compliance with EU Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) and to protect consumer health. This application note highlights a robust and fully validated LC-MS/MS workflow on the PerkinElmer QSight® LC-MS/MS system for the sensitive and selective determination of these highly polar fungicide residues in fruit matrices including grapes, pomegranates, and oranges.

Using a simple acidified-methanol extraction with no additional cleanup, combined with negative-mode MRM detection, the method delivers excellent recoveries (90–98%), precision below 5% RSD, and limits of quantification well below EU-MRLs, even for compounds that are difficult to retain on conventional reversed-phase LC columns. Powered by UniField™ Detector technology, the HSID™ interface, and Simplicity 3Q™ software, the QSight LC-MS/MS provides clean peak shapes, baseline separation, and high robustness, enabling reliable routine testing of challenging fruit matrices.

  • High-confidence detection of fosetyl-Al and phosphonic acid in fruits
  • SANTE-compliant performance with LOQs below EU-MRLs
  • Simple, efficient sample preparation with no extra cleanup
