Overview

The FIMS-400 incorporates two peristaltic pumps, high performance optics with low pressure Hg lamp and solar-blind detector for maximum sensitivity. Automatic baseline offset correction (B.O.C.) immediately before each measurement provides exceptional short and long term baseline stability. Built-in power supply and control electronics based on surface mounted device (SMD) technology. The spectrometer, FI components, autosampler and other accessories can be controlled via an industry standard personal computer (required option) using the PerkinElmer Syngistix(tm) for AA system software (required option) based on the Microsoft(r) Windows operating environment.

Two peristaltic pumps are required if the analysis calls for:

  • two solutions to be pumped at different flow rates (on-line dilution)
  • the addtion of multiple reagents
  • the use of on-line microwave digestion technique

Application Note

Using FIMS to Determine Mercury Content in Sewage Sludge, Sediment and Soil Samples

In this work, samples were digested with aqua regia using reflux conditions according to DIN method 38414. After proper dilution of the digested sample solution, Hg was measured interference-free using SnCl2 as the reductant. The recoveries of spiked mercury in sewage sludge samples ranged from 96 t ...
