There are many characteristics to consider when choosing a detector, therefore several detectors have been developed over time to address particular challenges. It is important to consider the chemical nature of the analytes of interest and any potential interferences, when choosing a detector. Addi ...
Parabens are utilized as an antimicrobial preservative in many commercial offerings including cosmetics, personal care products and foods, and offer both chemical and thermal stability to products. Although parabens increase the safety of products, recent studies have suggested that parabens may exh ...
QA/QC analysts and lab technicians in a wide variety of fields – pharma and biopharma, applied materials, optics, food, and academia among them – need to analyze samples quickly, accurately, and easily through their UV/Vis systems, with better turnaround times, confidence in results, and increased p ...
Quantification methods for total protein are among the longest-established fundamental and important experiments of bioscience. UV/Vis Spectrophotometry is widely used for the determination of protein. This application note describes a typical protein method, the Bradford method. Data is rapidly acq ...
The recent emergence of mRNA-based vaccines and therapies has made clear the need for reliable analytical methods that can successfully identify, characterize, and quantify mRNA. This chemical instability demands a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which mRNA degrades, which can inform the d ...
Compost or fertilizer plays a central role in organic soil fertility plans and is an essential raw materials because crop yield is severely affected. It is also bulky and costly to apply. Determining compost carryover is therefore important for cost-effective soil fertility planning. Increasing indu ...
Monitoring the consistency and quality in soft drinks is essential to ensure a positive brand image and a loyal customer base. Our full portfolio of chromatography solutions, including LC, GC and GC/MS, enables you to meet – and even exceed – your quality control goals with rapid, intuitive, and acc ...
In the textile industry, the use of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) is increasing due to their ability to provide UV protection, increase the hydrophilic nature of fabrics, provide antibacterial characteristics, and reduce odors. This work demonstrates the ability of PerkinElmer's NexION ...
This study was to measure the levels of PAHs concentrated on the surface of microplastic particles in order to begin to understand the risk to the marine biological ecosystem. This work demonstrates the fast, effective chromatographic separation of 15 polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) for reduced run ...
Nanomaterials are infinitesimal, but do not let their size fool you. Their surface area actually increases at the nanoparticle scale to infuse these miniature building blocks with unique magnetic, mechanical, structural, optical, and electrical properties that are different from the same chemical at ...
Spectroscopic techniques, especially infrared (IR) spectroscopy, can give specific chemical information, identifying intermediates and products during extremely fast reaction based on the spectral information collected. Modern FT-IR (fourier transform infrared) spectrometers have fast scan capabilit ...
We evaluated a 3M® visible mirror film for potential use in a new curved photovoltaic module using a LAMBDA 950 spectrophotometer with an ARTA accessory. In this application, the 3M® film must transmit near-infrared photons to the underlying silicon solar cells (where they will be converted directly ...
The Avio® 220 Max hybrid simultaneous ICP-OES features a dual backside illuminated charge-coupled device (DBI-CCD) detector which simultaneously measures a wavelength range around the analytical wavelength (within a given CCD array), including the background correction wavelength(s). Unique to the A ...
Ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N) occurs naturally in groundwaters at concentrations below 0.2 mg/L and up to 12 mg/L in surface waters, as a result of decomposition of organic matter. High concentrations of ammonia in surface waters are toxic to aquatic life and are indicative of contamination from industri ...
Using the LAMBDA 465 UV/Vis Spectrophotometer and UV Lab software, quantification of the oligonucleotide was performed. The range of concentrations was 0.5 - 2.0 µM. Rapid acquirement of spectra and good sensitivity were obtained with the LAMBDA 465.
